Council Member Sandy Nurse introduces two resolutions: one calling for a right to prompt hearings for unlawfully evicted tenants, and another advocating for the inclusion of a formerly incarcerated person on the state parole board. She explains the rationale behind each resolution and asks for her colleagues' support.
- Resolution 246 aims to establish a right for unlawfully evicted tenants to have their cases heard within five days.
- Resolution 414-A calls for the passage of state bill S3746, which would require at least one member of the state parole board to be formerly incarcerated.
- Nurse emphasizes the importance of including the perspective of formerly incarcerated individuals in parole decisions.

Today I have two resos, two four six and four one four a.

Two four six is calling on the state to essentially provide the the right to have the people who have unlawfully been evicted to have their case heard within five days.

Right now, the judges have the discretion to hear it or not, and we wanna make this a right for legal occupants so that we are helping people to not be essentially rendered homeless.

And RESO four fourteen a is calling on the state to pass s thirty seven forty six, a bill that would require at least one member of the state board of parole to be a formerly incarcerated person.

Years of reporting has shown and exposed the disparities within our state's parole system, and formerly incarcerated individuals know intimately what it takes to rebuild a life after navigating the carceral system and reintegrate into our communities.

Their voices and experiences are invaluable and should be guiding these decisions, so I ask for your support on this, colleagues.
