Council Member Diana Ayala seeks clarification on the application process timeline, and Administrator Scott French explains the 30-day standard for processing applications. He details the requirements within this timeframe and situations where extensions may be granted.
- Applicants have 30 days to submit necessary documents and complete an on-demand interview.
- HRA is required to make a determination within 30 days on average.
- Extensions may be granted in certain circumstances to avoid restarting the application process.
- French reports improved timeliness rates: over 91% for SNAP and 71% for cash assistance in January.

So let me ask you a question because I hear there's a lot regarding the hold on a second.
0:42:44
Just wanna make sure that I recognize that we've been joined by council member Riley.
0:42:48
If a person has started the application process, they have ninety days to complete it?
Scott French
0:42:53
No.
0:42:53
The application process for timeliness, sorry, for timeliness for if you're an application, in general, there's a thirty day timeline for from when someone applies.
0:43:03
Right?
0:43:03
And in that thirty days, the individual would need to submit all necessary supporting document and complete an on demand interview.
0:43:12
And then we would be required to make a determination within the thirty days on average.
0:43:17
There are instances where we will grant someone more than thirty days for the process.
0:43:22
Say someone calls towards the end of the thirty day period for their on demand interview, or they call and they need additional time to actually submit documents.
0:43:32
We'll defer that application to give them more time to provide the information we need so that they don't have to restart the application process all over again.
0:43:40
I can say that for timeliness rates, they have increased quite a bit over the last year, especially as we were able to eradicate the backlogs.
0:43:49
So, for SNAP timeliness for the month of January, that was over 91%.
0:43:55
Cash assistance was at 71%.
0:43:59
And we obviously continue to stay focused on ways in which we can improve, right, continue to improve those percentages.
Diana Ayala
0:44:05
The percentages for us for cash assistance was 70
Scott French
0:44:08
71%.
Diana Ayala
