Council Member Gale A. Brewer inquires about the RFQ process for the Hunts Point Produce Market redevelopment, focusing on the criteria for shortlisting submissions and the possibility of including tourism opportunities in the new market design. EDC representative Michelle Lamberti and Mayor's Office of Food Policy Executive Director Kate MacKenzie respond to her questions, promising to provide more detailed information.
- The RFQ deadline is April 28, with RFPs to be released to shortlisted options during the summer.
- Brewer suggests considering tourist visits to the market as part of the redevelopment plan.
- EDC will follow up with specific criteria for evaluating RFQ submissions and the possibility of including tourism opportunities in the proposal process.

the market.
1:11:32
So we do know that there will be the RFQ is due on April 28 as I understand it.
1:11:38
And then there'll be a request for proposals to be released to shortlisted options during the summer.
1:11:47
So what factors will EDC use to determine which RFQ submission will be shortlisted?
1:11:53
This is a big question, a big deal for all of us.
1:11:56
Sure.
1:11:57
And also I wanna add, when we were there, I have an idea.
1:11:59
They all may laugh at me, but it's something to consider.
1:12:03
There are places in the country where you can, as a tourist, meaning a New Yorker or a visitor, visit the market.
1:12:11
You can't do the current one.
1:12:12
There are safety concerns.
1:12:13
And obviously safety concerns, intellectual property, and staff would have to make sure that it was safe for everybody.
1:12:21
But is that part of your discussion?
1:12:23
And my lettuce washing machine.
Michelle Lamberti
1:12:26
Thank you, council member Burr.
1:12:27
I will bring back the request for the lettuce washing machine.
1:12:30
I myself am a frequent visitor to other markets when I'm not in New York, so we'll bring back that request as well.
1:12:37
In terms of I am obviously not on the team that will be deciding on the recipient of the developer for the project.
1:12:47
I can get back with specific criteria, but I'm assuming it's the usual financial viability of the project, commitment to our hiring goals and standards, making sure that they can really fulfill the project because this is something that to go we want we want and will go forward with.
1:13:03
But in terms of the specific criteria, I can I can check back for you on those, and I'm not sure if those may also be avail available on our website with the request for the RFQ?
Kate MacKenzie
1:13:12
Alright.
1:13:12
You.
1:13:13
Council member, if I could just share the last time I visited the market, 04:00 in the morning in September with NYC tourism to consider something just like that.
Gale A. Brewer
1:13:22
That's great.
1:13:23
I'm glad we're all thinking along the same lines, but it would have to be into the RFQ or only in the RFP.
1:13:30
In other words, you can't do this unless you have somebody including it in their proposal.
1:13:34
So now I'm worried April 28 is soon.
1:13:38
I don't know if you can add to an RFQ or if you how does can you get back to us as to how that would
Michelle Lamberti
1:13:44
be possible?
1:13:45
I can get back to you on that.
Gale A. Brewer
1:13:46
Okay.
1:13:47
Thank you.
