This resolution is in support of state legislation that would establish a SNAP and cash assistance fraud victim compensation fund, an issue I'm sure you all deal with on a daily basis in your offices.

In my district, residents have lost thousands of dollars of food of of resources they depend on for food.

It is critical importance that we pass this here in New York State before the close of the budget season so that the appropriate allocations can be made to protect New York City families who otherwise will literally go without food.

For those of you who don't know, the office of temporary and disability reports that between August 2023 and December 2024, '60 '5 million dollars in theft has occurred for SNAP benefits.

For those of you who may not be aware, the federal program that reimbursed the victims of SNAP fraud ended on December 2024, and I do not need to tell this group that with the Trump administration, no hope is coming for victims of snap fraud.
