Council Member Hudson, relaying questions from Council Member Ayala, inquires about the high rate of CityFHEPS application rejections and their potential link to evictions. HRA representatives discuss the application process and eligibility criteria for both APS clients and the general population.

  • HRA representatives note that the acceptance rate for CityFHEPS vouchers for APS-eligible individuals is very high, but exact rejection numbers were not immediately available.
  • They explain that CityFHEPS eligibility criteria are separate from APS eligibility, including specific income requirements.
  • The discussion highlights the need for more detailed data on application rejections and their outcomes, particularly for APS clients.

Okay, Thank you.

Second question from council member Ayala is according to city data and the MMR, the rate of rejections for city FEPs applications was significantly higher than those denied in 2023.
1:03:38
Why are so many applications being denied, and how many of those who had their applications denied ended up being evicted?
Gili Hershkovich-Kim
1:03:46
Citywide or just for APS clients?
Crystal Hudson
1:03:49
What was your question?
1:03:50
Citywide or what?
Gili Hershkovich-Kim
1:03:51
Citywide or for APS clients?
Crystal Hudson
1:03:53
We we can start with APS clients since I would think you would have that.
1:03:57
I
Gili Hershkovich-Kim
1:04:00
would have to get back to you on this data because I can our acceptance rate for CDFEVS voucher when the individual is APS eligible is extremely high unless the client does not meet the CDFEVS criteria.
1:04:16
But I don't have the number of rejections to speak to it.
John Rojas
1:04:20
That that, thank you for that question Councilmember Yalla.
1:04:23
I I would say you know that's a great point to further reinforce that although an individual may be APS eligible, the criteria for CDFHEPPS is separate and apart from APS.
1:04:34
So an individual will still have to meet the standard for City Fairheps including the income criteria.
1:04:41
APS doesn't have any income criteria requirements, so you can you can have any income and be part of APS, but the requirements for City Fairheps are different and there are income requirements including I think more aligned to City to cash assistance.
1:04:56
So, but as Ms.
1:04:58
Hershkovits Kim stated, we can pull the data for APS specific and most of the clients who do apply are granted city fabs if they're deemed eligible and enrolled in the APS program.
