Council Member Hudson asks how HRA has been managing the increased caseload and referral volume for APS. Deputy Commissioner Hershkovich-Kim explains the strategies employed to address the additional workload.

  • Offering overtime to staff members to compensate for vacancies
  • Goal to reduce caseloads significantly once fully staffed
  • Soliciting assistance from trained former APS staff members
  • Closely monitoring the need for overtime, shifting caseloads, or redistributing cases

Thank you.
1:38:11
I can appreciate that.
1:38:12
And then also just going back to the increases that you've seen, how has HRA been able to handle this additional caseload and referral volume?
Gili Hershkovich-Kim
1:38:23
So we we work again, we work very closely with our field offices to address the need of the of the offices.
1:38:33
We offer overtime to our staff members while we still have vacancies.
1:38:39
Our goal is that once we are fully staffed, the case loads will be reduced significantly.
1:38:47
But we do offer extensive overtime to our staff members.
1:38:52
We sometimes solicit the assistance of trained case workers who may have been in the past APS staff members who are interested in assisting with different part of either visitation or other parts of the program.
1:39:11
But we are monitoring very closely the need to either overtime or shifting caseloads or the distribution of cases.
