Council Member Crystal Hudson inquires about information sharing protocols between Adult Protective Services (APS) and NYC Aging to ensure continuity of care. Assistant Commissioner Eileen Mullarkey provides insights into the current collaboration.

  • 371 NYC Aging case management clients are also known to APS, out of nearly 32,000 annual unduplicated clients
  • Case management can refer clients to APS for services
  • APS can refer clients directly to case management for home-delivered meals if they meet eligibility criteria
  • For eligible clients, meals are authorized while APS remains the primary case manager
Crystal Hudson

Got it.
1:17:29
Thank you.
1:17:32
Can you describe the information sharing protocols, if any, between APS and NYC aging to ensure continuity of care?
Eileen Mullarkey
1:17:41
Sure.
1:17:41
So current currently, there's 371 case management clients, New York City aging case management clients who are also known to APS.
1:17:56
And that's out of nearly 3,200 unduplicated clients in a year that receive case management.
Crystal Hudson
1:18:05
Sorry.
1:18:06
You said compared to how many?
Eileen Mullarkey
1:18:08
32,000 annual clients.
Crystal Hudson
1:18:11
Thank you.
Eileen Mullarkey
1:18:13
And case case management can refer to APS for services.
1:18:20
And we also relationship that APS refers directly to case management for clients who meet the eligibility for home delivered meals.
1:18:32
And those clients, as long as they meet that eligibility, they're authorized for meals while APS stays the primary case manager.
