Council Member Crystal Hudson inquires about internal assessments of current staffing levels in relation to the volume and complexity of referrals received. Deputy Commissioner Gili Hershkovich-Kim explains the ongoing monitoring and management of caseloads.

  • Caseloads are monitored on an ongoing basis
  • Field offices work to ensure even distribution of cases
  • Case types and rotation may be adjusted for more even distribution
  • More challenging cases may result in lower caseloads for those handling them
  • Consideration is given to transitioning stable cases to preventive services approach

Thank you.
0:52:37
That's helpful.
0:52:39
Conducted any internal assessments on whether current staffing levels meet the volume and complexity of referrals received?
0:52:46
I know you got a little bit to this before.
Gili Hershkovich-Kim
0:52:49
Sure.
0:52:50
So we we monitor our caseloads on an ongoing basis.
0:52:56
We work with our field offices to assure that distribution of cases is as even as possible.
0:53:07
We sometimes change the type of cases or case rotation to allow a more even distribution and to assure that there are more that if there are more challenging cases, those caseloads will be a little lower.
0:53:27
It's important to note when you look at our caseload ratio that once APS becomes involved with an individual with a hope of course that we stabilize the situation and we the risk is eliminated or reduced and the client situation is now stable, they sometimes transition into a more preventive services approach.
0:53:54
Those will be for clients who have supports in the community, and their involvement with them will be less intense as it is when there is an imminent risk that has to be identified.
0:54:07
So we also take that into consideration when we discuss the ratio of the caseloads and really the case distribution.
