Council Member Chris Banks inquires about how the Commercial Waste Zone (CWZ) system addresses the specific needs of different commercial entities, from small businesses to industrial zones. Acting Commissioner Javier Lojan explains the outreach and support provided during the transition.
- Small businesses receive focused outreach due to their potentially greater difficulty in adapting.
- An MWBE company is used for outreach, providing support and information.
- Multiple channels for customer support are available, including email, 311, and an online service portal.

When it comes to local implementation, my council district includes a wide range of commercial activity from small businesses to industrial, what we call IBZs.

How is it that the CWZ zone addressing is addressing the specific needs for these different commercial entities, and what kind of support or outreach is being provided during this transition?

So the small businesses I think are one of the things as we mentioned earlier that when we go out and do outreach we focus on a little bit more because they have a bit of a harder time.

They're not as elaborate as a chain store or a big company.
1:17:59
But that's part of our outreach plan.
1:18:02
We have a company, an MWBE company that we use for outreach.
1:18:09
And they go out and they provide any kind of support or any kind of information.

And obviously that we have our portal that any customers are able to email us, call 311, or go through our online service portal and then issue any questions or complaints there.
