Council Member Abreu asks about other enforcement issues experienced in Queens Central and anticipated challenges for future implementations. Acting Commissioner Lojan provides insights on potential issues and the success of Queens Central.

  • No customer complaints received in Queens Central, indicating success
  • Future focus on potential billing violations, such as exceeding rate caps
  • Anticipate fewer issues in The Bronx due to existing relationships with most carters

It's like when a council member is in my district and they shouldn't be you know.
0:48:13
That was a joke.
0:48:16
I understand that.

What are what are other enforcement issues DSNY has experienced in Queen Central and are there any additional enforcement issues that we haven't discussed that you all have to anticipate?
Javier Lojan
0:48:29
Yeah.
0:48:29
I I think one of the you know Queen Central was very successful because we didn't receive any customer complaints.
0:48:37
One of the issues that we would be looking for as we roll out the other zones would be if any of the Carter's are having any kind of billing violations, know, if they're exceeding what the cap is.
0:48:52
So those are the things that we would be looking for.
0:48:55
Thankfully we have not experienced that in Queen Central, and that's the other reason for going into The Bronx is that they have a relationship with you know all but one of the Carter's and I think that should limit any kind of issues there as well.

Thank you commissioner.

I'm now gonna now take a deeper dive into Queen Central before I have my colleagues ask some questions.
