Ari Hoenig, a homeowner in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, testified about his concerns regarding a 5G tower installed near his property without prior notice. He expressed worry about potential health risks, particularly for his daughter, as the tower is in close proximity to their home.
- The 5G tower is 7 feet from his property line and 12 feet from a bedroom window
- A warning sign on the tower indicates that FCC RF exposure limits may be exceeded within 7 feet
- Hoenig argues that the tower is unnecessary in his neighborhood, which already had good broadband and 4G coverage

a homeowner in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
3:16:31
And several months ago, without any warning or information, a five g tower was constructed on the corner right outside of my house.
3:16:40
This unit is seven feet from my property line.
3:16:44
It's 12 feet from the window of a bedroom, and this is also the bedroom where my daughter sleeps.
3:16:50
After it was constructed, I noticed a a small yellow sign on the box, which is the unit, and I photographed it and zoomed way in, and I could read message.
3:17:03
This message says, it's it's a warning sign, a yellow caution sign.
3:17:07
It says, keep back seven feet from this antenna, FCCRF, which stands for radio frequency.
3:17:15
Public exposure limits may be exceeded within this distance.
3:17:19
Okay.
3:17:19
This is, again, 12 feet from the window.
3:17:24
There is no reason why this unit should be so close to residential buildings.
3:17:30
I get that everybody in the city needs access to broadband.
3:17:34
I get that the city needs revenue and needs to rent out space, but this is a this is a health concern.
3:17:41
There are studies that are showing that three and four g do increase increase risk of cancer and that children are especially susceptible to that.
3:17:53
There are no studies or no accurate studies with five g.
3:17:57
We can't rely on that.
3:17:58
We are essentially the test here, and I don't wanna be the test, and I don't want my kids to be the test.
3:18:03
We already had very, very good coverage with broadband and also, four g in this neighborhood before this tower.
3:18:11
It was excellent.
3:18:11
It's a it's a quite affluent neighborhood, in fact.
3:18:14
It's not needed in this area.
3:18:17
It's needed somewhere else, and it shouldn't be so close.
3:18:19
And I just wanna, I'd wanna end this with to be able to show the panel here the view from my window so that you can actually see it for yourselves.
3:18:30
That's the tower, and this is the box.

3:18:35
We see it.
3:18:36
Thank you.
Ari Hoenig
3:18:37
Okay.
3:18:37
Thank you very much for your time.
Jennifer Gutiérrez

Thank you, Ari.
