Will DYCD begin reaching out to providers to see that if they were able to take on new new slots and programs?
2:52:12
What's the contingency plan if providers reject taking on new slots due to the current price participant rate?
Keith Howard
2:52:19
So the contingency plan is to continue to engage providers, I mean across the our network.
2:52:26
Our providers have been very very clear.
2:52:29
Of course outlining to you the struggles that they are having with not only staffing levels, but in addition to that, you know, the rate.
2:52:38
So our engagement has been happening not to the point where we've localized it and say here is where we see investment.
2:52:45
Again, those conversations are happening with the school, with New York City Public Schools and DYCD.
Althea Stevens
2:52:52
So have you guys even talked about a plan if all providers was like, nah, we're standing on it.
2:52:56
We don't get a rate increase.
2:52:57
We're not taking these new 5,000 slots.
Keith Howard

Our providers have been and our providers, and I like to call them our partners, they've been tremendous and understanding.
2:53:09
They're all about youth and youth programming just like we, just like you are.
Althea Stevens
2:53:14
I know, but you know they they might have a breaking point especially because they're not getting paid.
Keith Howard
2:53:18
And they and they may.
2:53:19
And and I think those communications are gonna continue and you know and enroll us.
2:53:25
But I think our our partners are looking at the bigger picture.
2:53:28
The bigger picture is the $331,000,000.
2:53:31
You also mentioned something about middle school kids.
2:53:36
I think what the mayor created and and and suggested and and we're gonna roll out a blue ribbon commission that's gonna look at you know the whole port, the whole programming around after school program.
2:53:52
Looking at exactly what universal after school look like not only in the elementary, but also in the middle school slots as well.
