Council Member Stevens inquires about the distribution of new program slots between new standalone programs and existing ones. Commissioner Howard explains DYCD's approach to this allocation.

  • The goal is to increase programming in neighborhoods that currently lack it
  • DYCD is considering all options, including areas where state programs were cancelled
  • The agency aims to address gaps in service across different neighborhoods

I'm sure my colleagues all have suggestions, especially when there's programs that have sunsetted that's not under DYCD and in certain communities, so definitely we should continue to have conversations and continue to talk about that.

Will those funds provide additional slots in new standalone programs or will additional slots be added to existing programs?
Keith Howard

So the goal of course is to the investment of new programming for the 5,000 slots to increase when in neighborhoods that do not have programming existing.
2:51:40
That's goal.

And we and and just for clarity, will you guys be looking at in neighborhoods where it's not there's no DYCD programming or are you also looking at programs like you know there there was a bunch of state programs that was cancelled, are you guys trying to do like an overlap of that?
Keith Howard

It's everything's on the table.
