Council Member Brannan questions DYCD representatives about the agency's budget for FY 2026, which remains flat compared to FY 2025 despite rising costs. DYCD officials assert that the agency is adequately funded and explain that the current budget figure doesn't include discretionary and one-time additions typically added later in the process.

  • DYCD claims to be in constant communication with OMB regarding potential funding gaps
  • The current budget of $1.3 billion excludes discretionary and one-time additions usually added at the adopt plan stage
  • DYCD expresses confidence in the investment from the mayor, administration, and potential council support for FY 2026

We are concerned because essentially the current f y twenty six budget is equal to the f y twenty five budget for DYCD.
2:28:15
So do you feel that the the agency is is adequately funded for the next fiscal year without any proportional increases with regard to inflationary cost or increased demand?
Keith Howard
2:28:26
Absolutely.
2:28:27
We do.
2:28:28
And we're in constant communication with O and B if we see any gaps.
Justin L. Brannan
2:28:33
Okay.
2:28:34
But the cost of everything has gone up since f y twenty five.
2:28:38
Right?
2:28:38
So how how are we gonna make do with the same budget?
Christopher Lewis
2:28:43
Good afternoon, I may.
2:28:44
Chris Lewis, deputy CFO of DYCD.
2:28:47
The $1,300,000,000 that you see in DYCD's budget is exclusive of discretionary and one time ads that typically are added at the adopt plan.
2:28:57
So we're actually very proud of the the investment that the the mayor and the administration and obviously whatever support the the council intends to provide, we'll have ready for our fiscal year '26.
