Commissioner Dannhauser outlines ACS's efforts to support children in foster care, emphasizing kinship care placements and programs designed to enhance the success of youth in care. He highlights several key initiatives aimed at providing comprehensive support to foster youth.
- Nearly half of children placed in foster care are with people they know, promoting kinship care to reduce trauma and aid family reunification.
- The Fair Futures program has expanded, providing coaching and tutoring to over 4,300 young people aged 11 to 26 who are or have been in foster care or juvenile justice programs.
- The College Choice Program has seen a 100% increase in participation, now supporting more than 400 young people in foster care to attend college.
