Yep.
2:27:10
And so first deputy chancellor touched on this earlier, and so I'm going to pass the mic to him to into the details again, but I just want to open with $18,000,000.
2:27:20
This administration put $18,000,000 in the pockets of students who are currently in New York City public schools through our workforce development, and that is something that we are extremely proud of.
2:27:32
I think Dan mentioned earlier that while the numbers would be impressive, 15,000 kids in other districts, New York City we know that we need to do a lot more, which is why we're always looking to expand, but we agree with you, and we wanna make sure that students are getting paid and that they do not have to negotiate between basic needs and finding a job and pursuing their career interest, and that is precisely why the work that we do in Future Ready is so important.
2:27:58
But first deputy chancellor.
Daniel Weisberg
2:28:00
Thank you, chancellor.
2:28:02
And council member Stevens, I'm so happy to hear that your nephew is went through future ready and is working at Mastercard.
2:28:09
That's that's the that, you know, that's what we want for for
Althea V. Stevens
2:28:12
all He's sophomore baruque and he's working at Mastercard.
2:28:14
He worked there he was at Mastercard since his sophomore year.
Daniel Weisberg
2:28:18
Sophomore year?
2:28:19
Yep.
2:28:19
That amazing.
2:28:21
And that's why when I mentioned earlier for each of these 15,000 young people who've gone through this program, it's life changing for them because they get these experiences and, as you know from your nephew, it's not going in and doing busy work at these companies.
2:28:35
It's not doing filing.
2:28:36
They are getting skills that transfer to full time jobs when they decide to do it that then lead to rewarding careers, making 6 figures living here in New York City.
2:28:47
So that's the vision.
2:28:49
And I appreciate so much your offer to help.
2:28:52
We're trying to scale this program 15,000 to 100,000 quickly, quickly.
2:28:57
We're not talking about when I'm on a in a rocking chair on a porch somewhere.
2:29:01
We're talking about by twenty thirty that's coming up.
2:29:03
So we're gonna need your help.
Althea V. Stevens
2:29:04
So what's your ask this year?
Daniel Weisberg
2:29:06
Our ask?
2:29:07
Yeah.
2:29:07
You said
Althea V. Stevens
2:29:07
a hundred thousand.
2:29:08
That's what you said?
Daniel Weisberg
2:29:09
No.
2:29:09
No.
2:29:09
This this year this year, we're gonna expand the number future ready schools from 135.
2:29:14
We're hoping to get to at least 185.
2:29:17
That will touch thousands more children, but we can meet with you and show you the sequence we have to get it to 2,030 to 100,000 students getting the same sorts of experiences that your nephew got.
2:29:29
What does that take?
2:29:30
Recruiting more employers.
2:29:32
You can help us with that.
2:29:33
It takes funding to make sure we're training the teachers and hiring the right teachers to help them.
2:29:38
It takes funding for early college because, as you say, council member, it isn't just the work experience or just the academics.
2:29:45
It's both.
2:29:46
So early college is a piece of it as well.
2:29:48
So it will take funding, which right now we don't have in baseline in our budget.
2:29:53
Would love your support for that
Althea V. Stevens
2:29:54
How much funding are you requesting currently?
Daniel Weisberg
2:29:58
Well, I think right now, for future ready, we're looking at, for next fiscal year, dollars 29,000,000 for the additional 50 schools.
2:30:10
And then beyond that, I'm sure we have those
Althea V. Stevens
2:30:13
How much are your requests for LTW?
