Here in Lower Manhattan decades ago, Julie Mendon was community board one chair, and she called Financial District and Tribeca home for a really long time.

And during that time, people thought that Lower Manhattan was over, that it wouldn't see the great days ahead of it that it once lived.

But Julie had a vision that separated her from most.

She envisioned family.

She made a commitment to make sure that no matter who you worship, you could call Lower Manhattan your home.

And today, the Financial District is one of the fastest growing neighborhoods all throughout the city and country because of her vision, because of her commitment to people in New York.

I wanna talk about another museum that wasn't mentioned earlier today, and that's the Tenement Museum, where Julie and her husband Bruce have supported for a really long time, which shows the struggles of not just people living in tenement buildings, but immigrants that have come to New York City for a better future.

And this living museum teaches us the importance of our neighbors, whether you lived here for generations or you just came yesterday.

And so I'm glad to cast a vote from the Lower East Side to the Financial District to Tribeca to say Julie Menon is our speaker of the next city council.
