First off, I just wanna shout out and give flowers to the jail's action coalition who has worked for over a decade to get this work done.

I wanna honor all those who have suffered in solitary confinement in New York City jails or who live in fear that a low level police stop may quickly escalate to extreme danger.

These conditions are oppressive and inhumane, and they make all New Yorkers less safe.

To all those who have fought to win these vital protections, I vote to override these videos in your honor.

2nd, let me say that the mayor's disrespect for this council and our speaker is shameful.

He vetoes our legislation And then when we override his veto, he simply refuses to meet his obligation to implement the law.
