Audacia Ray, Interim Executive Director of the New York City Anti-Violence Project, testified about their organization's services for LGBTQ survivors of violence and their funding priorities for the next fiscal year. My name is Audasia Ray.

I use theythem pronouns, and I'm the interim executive director at the New York City Anti Violence Project.

Our organization was founded in 1980, and we are the only LGBTQ focused rape crisis hotline in the state.

We offer free services to LGBTQ survivors of violence.

Over the past year, our hotline saw a 20% increase in crisis calls.

And since Trump's inauguration in January, we've seen a dramatic increase in request for support around immigration and asylum.

I wanted to, share some of our top priorities for the the next fiscal year with you all and highlight some of the initiatives that, we are requesting for, expanded funds on.

We are in the process of, updating and streamlining our hotline, which has been running for more than thirty years, with technology upgrade that we'll have in place by July 1 that will also increase digital security in addition to being easier to use for both the volunteer and staff operators as well as people calling the hotline.

We have a 20 volunteers who support that that hotline.

It operates twenty four seven, and we hope to keep graduating large cohorts of of folks to be able to support that work.

Our program department, specializes in support for, queer survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence, as well as queer and trans immigrant survivors and doing prevention around hate violence throughout the city.
